A PAIR of determined Inverclyde Scouts have received prestigious honours for their commitment and dedication to their Scouting group.

Catriona Arkley and Aidan Phillips, who are both part of 85th Greenock & District Scout Group, received Scouting's highest accolades in a recent ceremony.

Catriona was presented with the Queen's Scout Award, and Aidan received the newly-established King's Scout Award.

The accolades were given to recognise Catriona and Aidan's success in a series of advanced challenges which included serving as leaders at the Blair Atholl patrol jamborette, taking part in world jamborees, and earning their Explorer belts through hiking challenges.

Lord Lieutenant Peter McCarthy presented Catriona and Aidan with their honours in front of an audience which included their family and friends.

A spokesperson for 85th and district said: "The group would like to express their sincere thanks to the Lord Lieutenant for making the event special for everyone, and inspiring the Cubs, Scouts and Explorers with his insights into the significance of these awards and the effort required to achieve them.

"A huge thanks also goes to the friends from around the district who came along to support the event and helped make the evening so memorable."
