A POPULAR BBC radio programme is broadcasting an education special live from Port Glasgow this morning.
Presenter Kaye Adams and the team behind her Mornings show have set up at Port Glasgow Community Campus – which houses Port Glasgow High School, St Stephen’s High and Craigmarloch School.
Today’s programme is focusing on smartphones and whether they have a place in schools.
Kaye is speaking with pupils, teachers and parents regarding the issue, with listeners phoning in to share their views.
Lisa Fitzharris, depute head at Port Glasgow High School, told the BBC: “The policy here is that we asked for young people to have their mobile phones off and in their bags whilst they’re in classes.
“There’s no limit on the use young people have of their mobile phones at social times.
“We do acknowledge that for some parents, they do find a kind of security almost in young people having mobile phones to make their way to and from school.”
