POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was allegedly assaulted while sitting in his car in Greenock.

The incident took place on Fintry Road at around 12:20am on Sunday.

A 37-year-old man was within his vehicle when a dark-coloured car drove up alongside.

Two men exited the car and carried out the alleged assault before driving off.

The man did not require hospital treatment.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident to get in touch.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Young said: “This appears to be a random attack on a man who was sitting in is car.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in Fintry Road around the time of this incident to get in touch with us with any information.

“I would also ask any motorists or taxi-drivers to check their dash cams as they may have captured images which could assist our investigation.”
