CALMAC’S Isle of Lewis vessel has arrived in Greenock for repairs after she was taken off her run due to a bow visor issue.

The ferry arrived at Dales Marine this morning, having left Oban yesterday.

Built in 1995, the ship has served the Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides since 2016.

She was removed from the Oban-Castlebay route yesterday morning after a technical issue was discovered.

Gourock-based ferry operator CalMac says it has since identified damage to the vessel’s Port lower cleat.

A spokesperson added: “Preparation of a full and permanent repair plan is underway and once completed we will be able to define an estimated repair duration.”

In the meantime, MV Isle of Mull is running a combined timetable between Oban, Barra and South Uist.
