AN alleged attacker said to have been armed with a glass bottle before severely injuring and permanently disfiguring a man in a serious assault two years ago is set to stand trial in June.

According to prosecutors, Aiden Rush repeatedly struck the alleged victim to the head with a glass bottle or similar implement at a flat in Stanton Square, Port Glasgow.

The 23-year-old allegedly acted along with others, whose identities are currently unknown to the Crown, in an incident on June 4, 2022.

The alleged victim was said to have been severely injured and scarred for life as a result of the reported attack.

Rush, of Islay Avenue in the Port, has denied the allegation through solicitor Amy Spencer.

A trial - which is expected to last up to three days - is due to begin on June 3 at Greenock Sheriff Court.
