TWO caring sisters who run one of Inverclyde's most successful and home-grown enterprises have told of their pride at stepping up to give back to young people at this year's Tele Community Champion Awards.

Greenock Telegraph: Clyde Eats

Food delivery platform Clyde Eats was set up by sisters Janine Brennan and Yvonne Purdie who teamed up to take on the mainstream apps.

They now have 80 outlets across Inverclyde and are now determined to build up a network supporting all their partners.

Now the duo, who own the Cottage Cafe, are showing their support for young people by sponsoring the Youth Champion award.

We will unveil all our finalists for the Community Champion Awards tomorrow - which will once again culminate with a glittering celebration event at Greenock Town Hall on June 7.

Clyde Eats' Janine said: "It is really important to us that we give back to the community in whatever ways we can. Investing in young people is something that we are taking very seriously ourselves.

"We have plans to create a programme for young people and we are about to set up a Clyde Eats base and from there we are hoping to create network support for all of our partners.

"Within that we are looking at supporting young people.

"That is why we jumped at the chance to support young people through the Youth Champion award. I think there are so many wonderful young people out there, doing incredible things and we want to celebrate that.

"We are incredibly proud to be involved in this and sponsor such an important award.

"We have been to the awards before and it is a wonderful celebration."

Janine set up Clyde Eats with her sister Yvonne, a chef, back in 2021 in response to the growing dominance of delivery services.

Since then they have saved local businesses hundreds of thousands of pounds.
