POLICE have launched a murder probe following the death of a man who was found seriously injured in Port Glasgow on Saturday night.

Detectives have named the victim as 27-year-old Jack Trainner and are appealing for the public’s help to catch his killer.

Officers were called to Brookfield Road in Port Glasgow at around 9:05pm on Saturday night after a report of a man seriously injured there.

Mr Trainner was pronounced dead at the scene.

An extensive investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances of what happened and police say there will be an increased presence in the area while this is ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Graham McCreadie, from the Major Investigation Teams, said: “Jack's family and friends will continue to be supported throughout our enquiries. It’s vital we find out exactly what happened to him and I’m appealing to the public for help to do that.

"If you have any information that may assist officers with their enquiries, then please get in touch as soon as you can.

“We would also like to view any private CCTV or dashcam footage from the area and between 6pm and 11pm Saturday."
