ONE of Morton's all-time top goalscorers has been announced as the fifth and final inductee into the club's hall of fame class of 2024.

Rowan Alexander, who joined the Cappielow side in August 1986 at the age of 25, made 358 appearances over nine seasons and his tally of 122 goals is the joint fourth highest for any Ton player, alongside Jimmy Gourlay and Peter Weatherson. Only Allan McGraw, George French and Andy Ritchie have scored more.

'Super Ro' was the club’s top scorer in five of his nine seasons and helped his team secure promotion to the Premier Division in his debut campaign.

A particular highlight was a classic header in 1988 as Morton beat Rangers 3-2 at Cappielow for their first victory over the Ibrox outfit since 1916.

Alexander enjoyed a successful spell as manager of Gretna following the end of his playing career, leading them to a Scottish Cup final in 2006 before the club went bust.

He joins John McNeil, Roy Baines, Joe Harper and Derek McInnes, who will all be inducted into the Ton hall of fame at the end of the season awards night.
