A MURDER accused Port Glasgow man has appeared in court today charged with killing Jack Trainner in the town.
Lewis Mullen is accused of taking the life of 27-year-old Mr Trainner on April 27.
Prosecutors say he was killed after an alleged assault at his home on Brookfield Road.
Mullen, 23, of Balfour Street in the Port, was represented by solicitor Aidan Gallagher as he made no plea to the allegation during a brief hearing in private at Greenock Sheriff Court.
Sheriff James Varney continued the case for further examination and Mullen will remain in custody until the next calling of proceedings within eight days.
