A DRIVER allegedly caught under the influence of drugs twice in two days is accused of being more than 50 times the cocaine limit whilst behind the wheel.

Prosecutors claim Grant Girvan drove an MG car on Fife Road in Greenock when the proportion of cocaine in his blood was 524mcg per litre; the legal limit is 10mcg/litre of blood.

It is alleged that Girvan, 37, of Fore Street in the Port, committed the Road Traffic Act offence on September 12 last year.

He is charged with driving the same vehicle at Newton Street the previous day when the proportion of cocaine in his blood was 27mcg/litre.

Girvan is also accused of being in possession of the class B and C opioids dihydrocodeine and buprenorphine.

He pleaded not guilty through solicitor Gerry Keenan at the sheriff court and trials are set to take place in September.
