RESURFACING works on a 1.2 mile-long stretch of the A8 through Greenock are set to add to motorists' traffic woes later this month.
Overnight lane closures will be in place between May 30 and June 13 while the essential project is completed over two phases.
Contractors Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are carrying out the key road repairs on the westbound carriageway from the Glen Roundabout in Port Glasgow to MacDougall Street, across from the Titan crane between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night.
Phase one will involve overnight closures between Glen Roundabout and Gibshill Road, between 8pm and 6am each night from May 30 until June 6.
There will also be a lane closure on the eastbound carriageway during the works.
Traffic management will be removed by 6am on Friday June 7.

Diversions will be in place and will operate as follows: Westbound A8 traffic will join Brown Street at Glen Roundabout and follow Balfour Street, Glen Avenue, Lilybank Road, Birkmyre Avenue, Farquhar Road, Mitchell Street, Lansbury Street and Gibshill Road to re-join the westbound A8.
Local traffic from Port Glasgow for the westbound A8 will follow Brown Street and the above diversion.
There will be no right turn from Scott Way/Port Glasgow Road onto the westbound A8. Traffic will follow Scott Way and Lithgow Way to Kingston Roundabout and take the westbound A8 to Glen Roundabout to join the above diversion.
There will be no right turn from Gibshill Road onto the eastbound A8. Traffic will follow the westbound A8 and turn at Cartsdyke Roundabout.
The second phase will see the westbound carriageway shut between Gibshill Road and Ratho Street, from 8pm until 6am each night between Friday June 7 and Wednesday June 12.
There will also be a lane closure on the A8 eastbound carriageway during the overnight works and restrictions will be removed by 6am on Thursday June 13.

Signed diversions will be in operation: Westbound A8 traffic will join Brown Street at Glen Roundabout and follow Balfour Street, Glen Avenue, Lilybank Road, Birkmyre Avenue, Farquhar Road, Mitchell Street, Lansbury Street, Gibshill Road, Weir Street, Sinclair Street, Carwood Street and Ratho Street to rejoin the westbound A8.
There will be no right turn from Pottery Street and Douglas Rae Road onto the westbound A8. Traffic will follow the eastbound A8 to Glen Roundabout and follow the above diversion.
There will be no right turn from Ratho Street onto the eastbound A8. Traffic will follow the westbound A8 and turn at Cartsdyke Roundabout.
Sinclair Street will be closed at Carwood Street with no access onto East Hamilton Street, local traffic will be diverted via Carwood Street and Ratho Street, or Weir Street and Gibshill Road.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout the works.
Amey says all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if conditions are not favourable.

The company said the scheme will benefit vehicles using the route each day by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
Electrical works which started at the end of April are currently causing tailbacks on the road, although these are due to finish in the coming days.
Meanwhile, lane closures have been implemented on Sunday mornings until the end of June to allow council staff to clear litter and debris from the A8.
