A GREENOCK man has been remanded in custody after he admitted to committing a string of shoplifting offences.

Mark Shaw pleaded guilty to four charges relating to incidents which happened over the course of nine months.

The 39-year-old stole alcohol, cleaning products and food from Lidl in Port Glasgow on September 2 last year.

He took a quantity of alcohol from Tesco in Greenock on May 29, as well as stealing a quantity of children’s toys from B&M in Port Glasgow in a separate incident.

At Oak Mall’s JD Sports store on June 7, he stole a quantity of clothing.

Defence solicitor Aidan Gallagher said Shaw’s spell of offending followed a ‘deterioration in his lifestyle’ as a result of a bereavement.

Sheriff Anthony McGeehan deferred sentencing until July 10 and remanded Shaw in custody in the meantime.
