A MAN is due to stand trial charged with assaulting and threatening a woman in Greenock.

James Kerr, 43, is accused of pushing the alleged victim on the body and punching her to the head causing her to fall to the ground at an address on East Shaw Street on October 27 last year.

He faces a separate charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the property the following day by repeatedly kicking a door, shouting and swearing.

Prosecutors say Kerr also uttered threats of violence towards two women during this alleged incident.

A jury trial has been fixed for August 19.
