Morton are making new players feel at home with a new full refurbished flat thanks to some help from local businesses.

General manager Dale Pryde-MacDonald has thanked firms for stepping into help them upgrade their property over the pre season.

The club purchased the flats in a bid to cut down on the costs and attract players from other parts of the UK.

This season the club has signed a number of players from outside Scotland who will be using the new property.

Dale said: “In recent times we have been restricted in terms of player recruitment by the costs and challenges of relocation for players outwith Scotland so having this property has allowed us to provide key infrastructure for attracting players from England and Wales.

"Purchasing the property was a decision made to cut down on our rental agreements and to give the club an asset which we could develop as well as helping our football recruitment strategy.

"With the support of local businesses and volunteers we were able to carry out a full refurbishment and renovation which has really made the property a home for the players.”

He went on to say that Morton is keen to forge even closer links in the community.

The general manager added: "As a community-owned club, its important for us to work with a range of local businesses and partners and we were overwhelmed with the fantastic support we received.

"Each business, tradesman and volunteer contributed beyond our expectations and made the project hugely successful.

"I must also pay tribute to our board of directors, specifically Michael Harkins, who has overseen the renovation.”

“We are all aware of how tough the economy and business world is right now, so for the businesses and tradesmen involved to show us so much support was incredible and we really do give them our heartfelt thanks.”

Greenock Morton would like to thank the following local businesses Blair & Bryden Solicitors, Howdens, Plumbing & Heating On Tap, Green Heat Scotland, Newark Decorators, Scott Gage Construction, Craig Finlay Joinery, Gavin MacIntosh (Electrician), Carpetrite, Pyper’s Superstore
