A THEFT-accused man charged with stealing almost £3,000 worth of foreign currency from a Port Glasgow home is set to stand trial next month.

Anh Duy Pham allegedly took 122,000 Turkish lira - equivalent to around £2,700 - from a property on the town’s Huntly Terrace over a near-two-week period between March and April 2022.

The 21-year-old, whose address is listed in court papers as Ayr, denied the alleged offence through solicitor Ellen Macdonald at Greenock Sheriff Court this week.

A Vietnamese interpreter was unavailable for Tuesday’s hearing and Sheriff Sean Lynch continued the case to September 3.

A trial is scheduled to go ahead on September 10 and the accused will remain on bail until then.
