AN ALLEGED racist hurled an offensive remark at a Port Glasgow takeaway before banging on the windows and trying to break in, it is claimed.
According to prosecutors, Paul Best repeatedly uttered threats of violence and refused to leave the Green T Chinese takeaway on Princes Street on November 11 last year.
The 37-year-old is said to have 'uttered an offensive remark which was racist in nature', and to have then returned to the premises, banged on the windows and attempted to force entry.
The alleged offence was said to have been racially aggravated.
Best, of Thomas Muir Street in Greenock, is also charged with repeatedly uttering violent threats and offensive remarks towards police officers on the same day at the Port's Betfred shop, also on Princes Street.
He is accused of tensing his upper body to prevent handcuffs from being applied, while he allegedly made further violent threats and offensive remarks towards a PC and acted aggressively within a police vehicle en route to Greenock police office.
A pre-trial hearing is due to be held at Greenock Sheriff Court on September 3.
