SWIMMERS from the Port Glasgow Otters have been making waves at the Scottish Down Syndrome Swimming Festival.

Ruairidh Craynor, Lee Morrison, and Aimee Phillips took part in the festival at the Citadel Leisure Centre in Ayr.

The swimming gala was organised by Down Syndrome Swimming Great Britain, and was sponsored by the Wouldn’t Change A Thing Charity.

Ruairidh showcased his prowess in the 25-metre backstroke, 25m breaststroke, 25m butterfly, and 25m freestyle events, while Lee proved his mettle in the 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and 50m backstroke events.

Similarly, Aimee gave three strong performances in the 25m backstroke, 25m breaststroke, and 25m freestyle races.

A total of 41 swimmers took part in more than 30 events, demonstrating a spirit of sportsmanship with no placings.

All swimmers received a medal and a participation certificate as a memento.

A spokesperson for the event's organisers said: "Thank you to everyone who made this festival possible, and to all the volunteers who helped make the day such a success."
