PLANS to create 10 new electric vehicle charging bays at a car park near Customhouse Quay have been rejected by council officials.
Proposals to install five ultra rapid chargers and create ten new parking spots including two disabled bays were lodged with Inverclyde Council in April.
The proposals would also have seen an electrical substation built at the Greenock site. with three lamp posts and pole mounted CCTV cameras also installed.
But planners have refused permission for the proposals, citing concerns about pedestrian and road safety.
