Fire bosses say there has been a big drop in incidents of deliberate fire-setting in Inverclyde.
A report to the council's police and fire scrutiny panel reveals a 70 per cent year-on-year drop in the spring and early summer.
The area's Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews attended 94 deliberate fires in Inverclyde between April 1 and June 30 this year, compared to 310 for the same period in 2023.
Inverclyde South West remains the ward which has the most incidents, with 28 - twice as many as the next wards in the rankings, Inverclyde East Central and Inverclyde South.
There were 13 accidental dwelling fires across Inverclyde during the period, according to the report, all of them taking place between 1pm and 6pm.
However, only three of those accidental blazes needed direct firefighting action, and there were no casualties reported.
The report says that secondary fires - those which did not occur in a building, vehicle, outdoor structure, did not involve casualties or rescues, and required five or more appliances - comprised 95 per cent of the deliberate fire incidents attended.
The report will be considered by the panel on Thursday.
