EMERGENCY services rushed to Langbank on Saturday night after reports of a person in difficulty in the water sparked a major multi-agency response.
Police, ambulance, and fire crews were called to the area at around 10:40pm, with Coastguard teams from Greenock and Helensburgh also attending.
The man was helped to safety by Helensburgh’s RNLI crew before being transferred into the care of paramedics.
Emergency vehicles were seen at Langbank Roundabout, as well as along the coastline on the A8's eastbound carriageway.
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: “A man reported to be in difficulty in the water at Langbank was recovered safely to shore by the RNLI inshore lifeboat from Helensburgh.
“The alarm was raised at about 10.40pm on September 21.
"The HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Prestwick was sent as well as Greenock and Helensburgh Coastguard Rescue Teams.
“The man was passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire Service also attended.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed that the man was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment.
The Telegraph has approached Police Scotland for comment.
