A GREENOCK man is to stand trial after he denied making violent threats at a petrol station in the town before allegedly assaulting a police officer.
Shaun Irvine pleaded not guilty to three charges concerning incidents alleged to have taken place on September 10.
The 32-year-old is accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the Tesco petrol station on Laird Street by uttering threats of violence and repeatedly punching the windows of a vehicle and a shop.
It is alleged he assaulted a constable at Greenock police office on the same date, striking the officer with his elbow and spitting on him.
Irvine, of Finch Road, faces a further charge if shouting, swearing and making violent threats towards Police Scotland officers.
He denied all three charges through defence solicitor Aidan Gallagher.
Irvine is due to stand trial at Greenock Sheriff Court on February 12.
