MORTON in the Community is teaming up with Inverclyde Council to take youngsters on an inspiring and exciting journey with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths this month.
The Inverclyde community is set to embark on an exciting journey of exploration and discovery as it gears up for the return of the Inverclyde STEM Festival.
Thanks to funding given from the Scottish Government and National Lottery Young Start, the Inverclyde STEM Festival aims to inspire, educate, and engage individuals of all ages and backgrounds in the wonders and opportunities within the curriculum.
The organising committee is hoping to make this year's event bigger and better than ever before. hey said: "Following the success of our inaugural STEM Festival, we’ve taken everything we learned to make this year’s event even bigger and better.
"We're thrilled to host a full week of exciting STEM-related activities and to once again open the doors of the Watt Institute in celebration of all things science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
"We warmly invite the Inverclyde community to join us and dive into the world of STEM—discover, explore, and be inspired."
Local and national companies have teamed up to allow the event to make a return and will be visiting all local primary schools to offer hands on activities throughout the week.
The week will culminate in an all-day STEM event hosted at the Watt Institute in Greenock.
The event will feature Science Shows throughout the day, presented by the Glasgow Science Centre, together with hands-on STEM activities including an introduction to electronic circuits using Snapcircuits, engineering Lego, simple machines, renewables and pneumatics, designing and creating with cardboard using Makedo kits and Sphero Indie robots.
Participants will be able to make their own molecules in the chemistry of everyday things and view a demonstration of 3D scanning of museum artefacts.
It is hoped that the festival will offer something for everyone throughout the week. Activities are family-friendly and designed to be engaging, fun, educational and suitable for all ages.
In turn it should foster a love for STEM among children and families.
With the assistance of local STEM Ambassadors, it aims to showcase the diverse opportunities available in STEM fields while promoting inclusion and diversity.
