A JUNIOR parkrun is inspiring the next generation of runners.
Battery Park junior parkrun #241 took place on Sunday, September 6, with 39 children aged four to 14 taking part in the weekly event.
Eight participants set new personal bests, three completed their first-ever junior parkrun, and several reached special milestones.
The event was made possible by 18 volunteers.
First across the line was Elijah in the JM11-14 category, finishing in 8 minutes and 10 seconds with an age grade of 68.53 per cent.
Faye was the first girl home in 9 minutes and 7 seconds (JW11-14), earning an age grade of 64.65 per cent.
Milestone achievements included James completing his 25th junior parkrun and Ruby reaching her 50th.
Elizabeth McGonigal was recognised for reaching 25 volunteer credits.
Other volunteer milestones included Dorota Bull earning her first credit and Elijah Taylor reaching 10.
Three children completed their first junior parkrun: Noah, Sofia, and Lillie.
Those who recorded personal bests were Blair, Caitlin, Emily, Sienna, Jessica, Harriet, Hanna, and Zoe.
The most experienced participants were Elijah with 184 junior parkruns and Caitlin with 110.
The event was supported by William Taylor, Caitlin Taylor, Elijah Taylor, Claire Melville, Kirsty Ormond, Gillian Clark, Lewis Clark, Rachel Neil, Dorota Bull, Rhona Hair, Bryan Lamb, Stephanie McCann, Elizabeth McGonigal, Marjorie Morrison, Rudi Stetz, Susanne Stetz, Lesley Dick, and Tracey Howe.
Among the volunteers, Tracey Howe has contributed 473 times, Kirsty Ormond 357 times, and Marjorie Morrison 340 times.
Battery Park junior parkrun takes place every Sunday and welcomes children aged four to 14 to walk, jog, run, or volunteer.
