KIND-HEARTED residents of Greenock's east end have dug deep once again to support people whose lives are affected by cancer.
Locals popped in to Craigend Resource Centre on Friday to enjoy a cuppa, a cake and a chat in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The centre has hosted Macmillan coffee mornings for the last 15 years - and centre manager Brian Power says he reckons up to £40,000 has been donated to the charity in that time as a result of the generosity of hundreds, if not thousands, of Greenockians.

People who use the centre, along with local shops and other businesses, have supported the annual gathering over the years, with donations including home baking and raffle prizes.
Brian said: "We've been doing this every year for the last 15 years. We must have raised between £30,000 and £40,000.
"We've been inundated with donations. It's been great."
Donations also came from Tesco, Morrisons, Bookers Cash and Carry and 2V Motors.
Tesco handed in surplus clothing stock, while the Tail O' The Bank pub donated crockery after closing.
Brian said: "This is a community where everyone knows someone who has cancer or who has sadly passed away from cancer."

Martina Bradley, who came along to the coffee morning, said: "I lost both my parents to cancer. It's good to support the charity, and it's always nice to come along to the centre."
Her friend Alison Docherty said: "It's a great cause. The whole community comes here. It's a brilliant centre."
Elizabeth Aitken, 67, added: "I came along to support Macmillan and the centre. Cancer is something that affects everybody."
The Macmillan Coffee Morning, launched locally in 1990 and nationally the following year, is the charity's biggest annual fundraising event.
It was officially held at schools, workplaces and community venues across the country on Friday, although the charity says, and has always said, that it's delighted to see people and groups organising coffee mornings for the cause on any date that suits them.
Locally Macmillan has joined forces with Your Voice Inverclyde to provide year-round support for people diagnosed with cancer, and their families, through the Improving the Cancer Journey project.
