PEOPLE considering becoming childminders can attend a free online session about training, support and funding on November 25.

The Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) will hold its 'Discover a Career in Childminding' event from 7pm to 8pm through Microsoft Teams.

Information will be provided about Scotland’s Childminding Future programme, including support to help new childminders establish their businesses.

Attendees can learn about one-to-one help from an SCMA Workforce Officer, free online training and a business start-up grant of at least £750.

They will also be able to speak with SCMA staff, ask questions about childminding and hear from people already running childminding businesses.

The association says the role can provide a flexible career while supporting local families and children’s development.

Benefits include contributing to children’s learning and wellbeing, earning an income while caring for their own family, being self-employed and providing a childcare service in the community.

Anyone interested can book a free place through the SCMA website.
