WITH the investment of £500 million in green energy up to 600 construction jobs are being created at Dalmally, in Argyllshire.
This is to increase the output of energy from the OVO Cruachan Pump Storage System.
Greenock needs jobs, so we must make use of the resources we have by investigating the possibility of having our own pump storage and also the production of hydrogen by splitting our water using the wind power that is surplus and can be stored.
JCB is investing in hydrogen technology and other firms are following in this direction.
The former IBM site in Greenock is a possible solution to finding a place close to a centre of population with space to develop hydrogen production and good communications.
It had a railway halt, has good links to the M8 and deepwater port facilities.
Mr Bamford of JCB is already, along with many other leaders in industry, exploring the alternatives to lithium batteries, so we must do our part to make sure we are doing all we can to get our share in this exciting development.
