WITH all that has been going on at home and around the world, many people I have met feel the festive season has come upon us in a sudden rush.
The last week has seen switches being thrown to light up Inverclyde for Christmas and here we take a look at some lighting-up ceremonies in years gone by.
Pic1: This shot shows pupils of Inverkip Primary School and members of the public awaiting the switch to be thrown on the village Christmas lights in 2006.
Pic2: Taken on a freezing cold but dry November night, this shows carol singers of Wemyss Bay Primary School as they celebrate the splendour of their Christmas lights back in 2006.
Pic3: Taken at the Gourock Christmas lights switch-on, this picture shows enthusiastic songsters belting out some festive cheer in 2014.
Pic4: Crowds of onlookers enjoyed music and festive treats when they gathered in crisp weather to see the lights go on in Greenock's Clyde Square for Christmas in 1995.
Pic5: Port Glasgow Gala Queen Laura Watt did the honours at the lighting-up ceremony held outside the town's library.
The band of the Salvation Army played festive tunes and carol music to bring a festive atmosphere to the Christmassy night in 1997.
