IT is sometimes possible to guess with a degree of certainty when an old photograph was taken.
However, all I can say about this image of Greenock’s Kilblain Street is that it goes back a very long time.
Use of a magnifying glass confirms the wording Kilblain Street on the sign on the gable end of the building in the centre, and that the property once housed what was described as a provision and grocery warehouse.
Open windows and broken panes of glass would suggest the building and the small cottage on the right were abandoned and awaiting demolition.
I would be grateful to hear from anyone with information about this old Greenock scene.
My other image has appeared on this page before.
Dating to 1961, it also shows Kilblain Street and properties that would soon disappear.
