THESE images go back to when the Inverclyde area had more than 10 garages with new car franchises.

Today, the district has only two dealers selling new cars – McMillan Motors of Greenock (MG) and Pearson of Wemyss Bay (Suzuki).

The former Alexanders of Greenock was one of several Ford franchises operated by a company with headquarters in Edinburgh where it opened the first Ford dealership in Scotland.

The Greenock dealership will be remembered for its Dalrymple Street showroom, with the interior image dating to the 1960s and the exterior view from a later period.
