WE have often looked at the wreck of the MV Captayannis and thought of how it could be salvaged but apparently it is not commercially viable, it would cost more than the ship is worth.
Port Glasgow recently erected a very large pair of statues to represent the history of shipbuilding in the area that cost many thousands of pounds.
Why not use the wreck as the base for some kind of monument to Scotland or The Clyde?
It need not be expensive, for example a large two-dimensional outline of a yacht or of a passenger ship, or thinking of the Statue of Liberty in the USA, a two-dimensional figure of a man wearing a kilt could be mounted on the wreck.
I have seen so many two-dimensional figures that look spectacular, visitors to Spain will have seen the giant bulls sitting astride many hilltops. Or the Hollywood sign in California, or of the wild horses galloping across the hilltops in western USA, the list is endless.
What a great boost it would give to this area to have something to show our worth as a nation or as a destination.
