A MAN was forced to jump over a wall in a bid to escape an attacker who purposefully rammed into a car he was travelling in.

Around 4.20pm on October 29 the man was within a silver car outside Kilwinning's Stevenston Road fire station when a black vehicle appeared to deliberately drive into the back of it.

The passenger ran from the scene as the driver of the black car emerged from his vehicle and smashed a window in the silver car before pursuing the man who ran off.

The passenger jumped over a nearby wall to avoid being hit with the car, which then collided with the wall before driving off at speed.

Hours later at around 7.05pm, cops were called to reports of men targeting a black car with weapons while it was parked in the B&Q car park on Kilwinning Road.

The driver managed to make off but a black Jaguar was found in Eglinton Park the following day with "noticeable damage".

Detective Constable Jason Buxton from Saltcoats CID said: “The first incident is believed to have been a targeted attack on the front seat passenger of the silver vehicle, the make of which we still need to confirm, and I am appealing for this person to contact the police.

“Stevenston Road will have been busy with motorists at the time and I would ask anyone who witnessed what may have appeared to be a road rage incident to please get in touch. In particular I would urge any motorists with dash-cams to check their footage in case they have captured anything of significance to the investigation.

“At this time it has not been confirmed whether the second incident is definitely linked to the first incident, however this is a line of enquiry we are investigating.

“I would appeal to anyone who was within the B&Q car park around 7pm on and noticed a group of men causing a disturbance, or anything at all suspicious, to contact the police.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Saltcoats CID via 101, quoting incident number 2799. Alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be contacted on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
