HELLO everyone, hope you’re all having a lovely holiday.

Well it’s the final countdown – exam results are less than two weeks! To say I am nervous is an understatement.

But, in the meantime I have been really busy out and about with my wee second family, the Friends4Ever Club.

We’ve been doing loads of lovely things as part of our summer playscheme. So far we’ve visited a chocolate factory, the Glasgow Science Centre, Linn Park, Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Finlaystone and many more places.

We’ve got loads more to do as well.

Our whole summer is packed full of exciting day trips and visitors coming in to see us – the children truly are in for a treat.

On Tuesday we went on a lovely open-top bus ride thanks to McGill’s (see page 9).

We were all around Greenock, up to Port Glasgow and back down to Gourock. Apart from nearly losing my head on a few trees down the west end, and coming off like something from an 80s film, I had a brilliant day with the kids.

After disembarking the bus I was speaking to the famous Tele photographer himself, George Munro, and he mentioned something that really caught my attention.

He said: “You can’t say Inverclyde aren’t trying.” Now that to some may not seem like a true statement, but for us at the Friends4Ever Club it couldn’t be any more accurate.

From the moment we started we have had help from far and wide, from places like the Greenock Waterfront cinema giving us showings for free to the Greenock Fire Station paying us a visit. We have been truly blessed with the support we have enjoyed.

Also, we have loads of lovely local friends who have come in to do things like science experiments (David), jewellery making (Val), drama (Hannah), some local photographers (Lesley and Paul).

Mary Greig and her lovely singing group have also been very supportive, Tesco and even the good old Greenock Telegraph!

So George does have a cracking point, the people of Inverclyde do try and that bit of effort that so many put in is truly really appreciated.

Our group for youngsters with disabilities in the area would like to say a big thank you to everyone.

It is the little things that really help make places great, and in our case, the lovely people really do make Inverclyde a smashing place to come from.
