I HAD a fantastic weekend at Pride Festival in Glasgow Green.

The two-day extravaganza is the biggest LGBT event in Scotland and I was so happy to be there.

The sun was shining all weekend and I enjoyed the parade, fairground, stalls, entertainment and there was even a dog show!

Music was provided by boy band Union J and Texas. Sharleen Spiteri was on good form and got the party going with all their greatest hits.

I also loved comedian KB Brannigan as his alter ego Big Angie and Drag Queen Nancy Clench was the most fabulous host.

Reach For The Stars I am really looking forward to hosting Reach for the Stars, the Inverclyde Community Awards.

The ceremony celebrates the achievements of local volunteers, charities, social enterprises and voluntary organisations.

I think it’s so important that the great work going on in our community is recognised and I am proud to be an ambassador for the event, which takes place on 4 November at Beacon Arts Centre.

If you know a group or individual who you’d like to nominate, forms can be downloaded online or picked up at ladyburn Business Centre.

For information on all the categories go to www.cvsinverclyde.org.uk Back to school My son Junior, left started primary one last week and so far, it’s been a huge success!

It was so emotional taking him for his first day. My family and friends came to stand at the school gate and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight.

It is such a huge step up from nursery but the wee man is handling it well. He loves eating in the big canteen and playing with the older kids in the playground!

I hope all the P1s across Inverclyde have settled in and are doing well.

Summer Sessions I can’t wait for Glasgow Summer Sessions this weekend.

I’ll be heading to Bellahouston Park to watch Scots rockers The View, Paolo Nutini and one of my favourite singers of all time, Miss Grace Jones!

She is known for her wacky performances and costumes and I’m sure she will pull out all the stops for her Scottish fans.

There are still tickets available for Saturday night http://glasgowsummersessions.com/
