DESPITE all that is going on in the world, with wars and hatred, economic difficulty, hardship and chaos, I firmly believe that love is the answer.

What does love mean? Well, we read in the bible that ‘love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

‘Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

‘Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.’

I think you will see from these verses that if we all carried out even a few of these things, the world would be a hugely different place.

Gone would be hatred, replaced by putting others first. Gone would be wars for the same reason. Gone would be anger to be replaced by forgiveness. Gone would be revenge as love keeps no record of wrongs.

The Father of love is God our Father. His love is limitless. He loves us way beyond our understanding and He pours it out on whoever asks for it. His love went on to send His only beloved Son Jesus on earth to show us the way back to the Father and to teach us about his Father’s kingdom. Jesus went through the agonies of the cross to make a way of forgiveness for us all. Such was God the Father’s love for us that he sent Jesus to us, that whosoever believes on him should not perish, but have eternal life.

His love in indescribable. Have you felt it? If you have you will know what I mean. He loves us despite ourselves. Then He asks us to go into the world around us and show that love to others.

I have said before that if we were in a helicopter and hovering above planet earth, we would be hugely distressed about all that is going on, that nations cannot live together in peace after all these years. What can we do about it?

If God’s love is in your heart, then there’s a whole big bad world needing us to show it and show the way to the Father’s love for each one of us. Please play your part.
