I FEEL sure that most, if not all of us, have had to search hard for something important that we have lost or has been mislaid, even if it means turning the house upside down. And then when we still can’t find it, we do it again!

Perhaps the more important the item we have lost, the longer and harder we search for it. I have had to do it on more than one occasion; however, I remember specifically a ring of my wife’s became lost outside the house, though we knew it was likely to be somewhere in a rather long hedge alongside the road though by no means certain.

I reckon I had a bit of help that day as after rummaging around for a little while, I suddenly ‘knew’ where it would be and, sure enough, there it was. As a Christian, I had prayed about it and I reckon that is where the help I got came from. A coincidence you might say; I rather use the term God-incidence and I have had rather a lot of these through my life.

We can spend an awful lot of our lives searching. Not only for items we have lost but for the right person to live our lives with, or the career job we want to pursue and then some of us will search deeper to make sense of the world we live in and what is happening around us on a global scale. In that world we might easily dismiss the Bible and the claims of Jesus on our lives and sometimes we search in the wrong places.

In former times God said to His people, ‘And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.’ And Jesus said ‘Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.’ And Jesus doesn’t break His promises.

If you are searching these days, with so many calamities and horrors around the world, or near to home where there is also distress and anguish in so many hearts, please turn to the One who can help. As Jesus says to each and every one of us … seek and you will find … not might find but will find … and I suggest some of your searching at least will find peace and comfort and a whole new way of thinking and discovering when you receive His life within you.
