I AM writing to you this week almost 4,500 miles away from Inverclyde, where I am helping to celebrate and develop street and school pastors in Jamaica.

The opportunity for these is very similar to us in the UK, where there are some 300 street and school pastors initiatives already in place.

Now, I gather the weather over these past days in Inverclyde has not been great with yellow weather warnings and I was reminded, as the aeroplanes I boarded for London and then Jamaica were able to soar through the clouds and any rain and find themselves, and us, in totally blue sunny skies, that there is a way to climb above all our troubles and challenges.

Our ‘aeroplane’ is the Holy Spirit who is there to lift each one of us above our troubles and into the peace and the joy of God’s love for us personally.

Time and time again, the Holy Spirit has been my guide and mentor, nudging me this way and that, directing my paths and smoothing any difficulties I have. He really does go ahead and prepares a way for us, no matter the circumstances we might find ourselves in.

In the Bible we read, ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ And God is always faithful to His words to us and we can fully put our trust in them.

So, whatever clouds are hanging about in your life, and you feel buffeted by them, let Father God, His Son Jesus and His Holy Spirit come into your life and deal with them.

I know of many men and women, bowed down by care and resorting to drugs and alcohol, find the answer lies in finding Jesus personally and putting their trust and their future into His hands.

As the chorus goes…‘Christ is the answer to my every need; Christ is the answer, His is my Friend indeed. Problems of life my spirit may assail; with Christ my Saviour I need never fail, for Christ is the answer to my need.’ Put your trust fully in Him this weekend and over the coming day and months.

He will never fail you.
