With the new Labour government in place for little over a month, one has to comment on the effectiveness of Martin McCluskey MP's party for how quickly they have brought about change in the area.

What a pity the first real change he and his party have managed to effect is the closure of the Cedars School, surely an establishment that Inverclyde should be proud of, in itself, and for what it helps a small number of children achieve they may not otherwise have done.

The irony is not lost on me that Mr McCluskey, and his leader Sir Keir Starmer, both benefitted from attendance at private schools.

If ever there was a case of 'do as we say, not as we do', this is it.

An apology would be a good start and maybe reflection on how much the closure of Cedars will now cost the taxpayer as the circa 70 pupils have to move to state schools.

This is class warfare at it's very worst, with the real losers here children who may not do as well academically in massive, crowded and noisy schools, than they may otherwise in small, privately funded high quality establishments like Cedars.
