ALLAN Moore has named Michael Tidser his new captain following the news that Stuart McCaffrey will not play again this season.

Midfielder Tidser has worn the armband for Morton in their last two matches and will resume the role in the meeting with league leaders Ross County tomorrow.

And while Tidser only turned 22 on Sunday, Ton boss Moore believes he has both the requisite experience and attitude to lead the Cappielow side.

Moore said: "He is one of our best players and although still young, he has a good head on his shoulders.

"Considering the amount of games he's played, he is also very experienced and I am happy for him to take the responsibility on.

"Losing Stuart is a big blow for us but we just need to get on with it. The boys will have to step up to the mark as we look to get up to the top end of the league." Moore was on a spying mission on Tuesday as league rivals Hamilton lost to St Mirren in a cup replay.

Ton are not scheduled to face Accies until February 25, and Moore joked that he hoped SPL signing target Dougie Imrie will have left New Douglas Park by then.

He added: "If Hamilton were to lose Imrie then that would be a big loss to them as he is a big player. I'd be delighted if he goes!"
