KEEPER Derek Gaston admits he is relishing the contest with David Hutton as the pair vie for the No.1 slot at Morton.
Gaston has held a firm grip of the gloves this season, even keeping former Scotland B cap Alan Combe out of the team earlier in the campaign.
But with former Queen of the South man Hutton presenting a new challenge after joining last month Gaston says he knows he has to keep proving himself to stay in the team.
Gaston said: "It's been brilliant since Hutts has come in - he has played a lot of games in this league and knows what it is all about.
"He has been great and he understands the situation. Goalkeeper is a weird position, as you want your team-mate to do well but at the same time you don't want to lose that one position.
"But the reserves are sitting at the top of the league and Hutts has been doing really with them. We are keeping one another on our toes."
