MORTON’S French pair Fouad Bachirou and Nicolas Caraux have both penned contract extensions with the club, the Tele can exclusively reveal.

Bachirou, 23, still had one year to run on a two-year deal signed in August of last year but has now committed himself to the club until May 2015.

Goalkeeper Caraux, meanwhile, is a recent recruit having only joined Ton in July following a successful trial spell with Allan Moore’s squad.

However, the 22-year-old former RC Lens shot-stopper has so impressed in his short time in Greenock that he has been tied down on a longer deal which will also run until the summer of 2015.

Speaking exclusively to the Tele, Morton chairman Douglas Rae revealed that the duo had put pen to paper on contract extensions.

He said: “I’m pleased to say that the goalkeeper Nicolas has signed for an extra year as has Freddie [Bachirou]. I’ve known for about three months that we were going to give Freddie an extension, it was just a question of getting down to doing it.” Meanwhile, Ton have been handed a rare home draw in the quarter-final of the League Cup.

They welcome ex-player Chris Millar and St Johnstone to Cappielow on Tuesday 29 or Wednesday 30 October.
