MORTON expect to complete the signing of unattached former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jake Nicholson today, the Tele can exclusively reveal.

Nicholson started his career with the London club and had a spell on loan at Finnish outfit MyPa 47, from whom Ton signed Janne Lindberg and Marko Rajamaki in 1994.

He spent five years at White Hart Lane and made one senior appearance, as a second-half substitute in a Europa League tie against Hearts in August 2011.

The 21-year-old central midfielder, a former England Under-19 internationalist, has agreed terms with Ton and is scheduled to put pen to paper on a deal that will tie him to the club until January.

Ton manager Allan Moore told the Tele: “We’ve brought another boy on board, Jake Nicholson. He’ll be in training with us today with a view to getting him signed up before Saturday.

“He used to be with Spurs but he’s had a few injuries and he’s not got a club at the moment. He’s willing to come up and play for us. He’s just looking for a chance. With the amount of injuries we’ve got, we’re going to take him on board until January to see how he does. That deal should be done today.

“We’ve had him in training and he’s done well. He likes to get at people and take them on, he’s got a good touch, and he’s had a few years at Tottenham, so he’s had a good upbringing.

“Whether his fitness levels are up to him starting on Saturday, I’m not sure, but he’ll certainly be involved.”
