VETERAN Dundee defender Matt Lockwood has expressed an interest in the vacant managerial position at Morton.

Englishman Lockwood joined Dundee as a player in the summer of 2010 and scored his first two Dark Blues goals against the Ton.

Shortly thereafter, Dundee were plunged into administration and the 37-year-old left-back combined his playing duties with a spell as assistant boss.

Now a player/coach at Dens Park, Lockwood has continued to play in his fair share of matches, making 19 starts in all competitions as Dundee lifted the Championship title this term. But he feels the time is now right to test himself as a manager and revealed he would be keen to take charge at Cappielow next term.

He said: “I have really enjoyed my time at Dundee but I would welcome the opportunity to get into management. I would like to show Morton what I can do.”
