MORTON have completed the signing of former St Mirren forward Jon Scullion on a short-term deal until January.

Scullion, 19, is a product of the St Mirren youth academy and was a regular in the Paisley outfit’s Under-20s team last term.

Although he was an unused sub in a Premier League match against Dundee United in February 2012, Scullion failed to make a first-team breakthrough.

His contract was not renewed this summer, whereupon he joined the Ton for pre-season training at Parklea with the aim of winning a deal.

And after sub appearances against Rotherham United and Viewfield Rovers, in which he scored with a thunderous drive, as well as a handful of closed-door outings, Jim Duffy has handed him a six-month contract.

According to the Ton boss, teenager Scullion will primarily play with David Hopkin’s development squad, where his progress will be monitored with the first-team in mind.

A thrilled Scullion said: “I’m delighted to have signed with Morton and looking forward to the season ahead.” l Meanwhile, Morton have set admission prices for today’s Petrofac Training Cup tie against Spartans at £10 for adults, £7 for concessions and £2 for children under 16.

Children under five are admitted free of charge but must be accompanied by an adult. Wheelchair spaces cost £7 and this includes admission for one carer or assistant if required.

Supporters are reminded that season tickets are not valid for this match.
