BERWICK Rangers player-boss Colin Cameron insists his League Two side have shown they should have nothing to fear from Morton tonight.
The Cappielow club squeezed past Cameron’s Wee Rangers with a 2-1 win in the League Cup at the beginning of the month.
By a quirk of fate, the teams were drawn together again in the second round of the Petrofac Training Cup.
Despite losing their first meeting, Cameron felt his side matched the Ton over the piece and can take confidence ahead of the rematch.
He said: “Thankfully we’re not in the same league! I remember one year at Raith Rovers we played Airdrie seven times in the one season because we got them in all the cups.
“But that’s just the way it goes sometimes.
“I felt our play merited at least extra-time last time.
“We started the game well and knocked the ball about without creating any clear-cut chances.
“We got back into it, albeit with a penalty, and although we eventually lost, we matched a team who were in the Championship last season. I told our players to take confidence from that.
“Are we confident about coming back in the Petrofac Cup? There’s no reason why not.
“Because we’ve played them we’ve learned a wee bit and whether we take it down a different route, I don’t know. It depends who’s available — but we won’t be coming to sit in anyway.”
