FORMER Morton striker Andy Jackson was gutted not to make a winning return to Cappielow on Saturday.

The hitman, who scored 12 goals in his one season with the Ton back in 2011-12, fired current club Brechin City into an early lead in Greenock at the weekend.

Jamie Masson added a second shortly thereafter but the Glebe Park men let their two-goal advantage slip, much to Jackson’s dismay.

The 26-year-old said: “It was nice to come back here and score. I was delighted to get a hat-trick on Tuesday and then score again today [Saturday].

“We made a great start going 2-0 up and I felt it could have been three or four. We had a few other chances and I thought we were playing well.

“The manager said that they would get a rollicking at half-time, so we expected them to come at us in the second half. But I felt we sat too deep and should have pressed them a bit more.

“I think the decision [to award a penalty] was a poor decision. I think our player has been pushed in the back.

“But the most disappointing thing is the fact that’s about five games we’ve thrown away from winning positions. If you add those points up we’d be up near the top of the league beside Forfar.

“Because it’s happened so many times and the boys want to win, the emotions were running high in the heat of the moment at the end. It shows the boys care.”
