LAST week I offered Jim Duffy my proposal for the starting 11 he should name for the game against Airdrie and we seemed to have agreed on eight of the players — but the big worry for most Morton supporters is that the manager himself just doesn’t seem to know his best 11!

The team is constantly being changed week after week which, although is a little disturbing, still somehow manages to keep us top of the league.

The past two weeks have seen Morton lose both games although the chasing pack don’t seem capable of taking advantage and it makes us wonder does any team actually want to win the title?

The simple answer is of course they all do but from a Morton perspective we seem content to achieve promotion the hardest possible way.

Last week I also mentioned it was time to change the defence and we did but lo and behold it was our defenders who made horrendous mistakes when we looked in total control of the game.

I think this week the manager should just put our seven or eight defenders names in a hat and pick out four as no-one seems to be consistent enough to deserve a permanent place in the team.

On Saturday the more vocal Morton supporters vented their frustration entirely at the manager and, whilst I don’t always agree with his decisions, I really don’t think this is the correct time to sack him. Although I’m not sure the majority of Morton fans share my belief.

We now have seven cup finals left, we are top of the league and the title is in our own hands, so hopefully we can all unite and somehow limp over the finishing line as champions!

John Gisbey, Greenock I’M not usually one for blaming one person for Morton performing poorly, but with seven games left to play I can’t help thinking this team who regularly make costly errors are about to blow the chance to get promoted.

The buck stops with Jim Duffy, his puzzling decisions not to play his strongest team every week is going to hand the title to another challenger.

It’s not rocket science, the failing to connect two passes together consistently is frustrating to watch. Oh, and one last point. I suggest the players spend less time chatting to the media and do the talking on the park.

Derek Gaston should try catching the ball more rather than punching and parrying when possible and maybe come off his line to command the box, as defenders take confidence from a positive goalkeeper. Please prove me wrong come May.
