RICKI Lamie has picked out defensive colleague Mark Russell as his own personal Morton Player of the Year for the 2015-16 campaign.

As revealed in yesterday’s paper, Joe McKee topped the Telegraph Sport star man points system and also picked up the Greenock Morton Supporters’ Club award.

Russell, meanwhile, was selected by the Albert Hotel Morton Supporters just ahead of McKee, and Lamie revealed the 20-year-old full-back was also his choice.

He told the Tele: “I played left-back in the last game of the season — for about 65 minutes before Mikey [Miller] got a knock — at Marky’s expense.

“I’ve obviously played left-back before and thought I did quite well, but I think the gaffer maybe just made that change because Falkirk are a decent-sized team.

“Apart from the injury about two thirds into the season, I think Marky played every single game. He played a lot of minutes.

“The wee man was brilliant again. He was my pick for player of the year last season personally and it’s been brilliant to see him doing well.”
