MORTON defender Thomas O’Ware is on the prowl for goals after setting himself a target of five for the season.

The 23-year-old emulated Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis’ panther celebration after scoring against St Mirren last Saturday.

O’Ware, who also netted against Clyde, explained that it was pre-planned but performed to raise a smile rather than having any significance.

And the Ton support could be in for more surprise celebrations if he hits, or surpasses, his five-goal aim for the campaign.

O’Ware said: “I was joking with the boys the night before, saying: ‘I can’t wait to score tomorrow; I’m going to do that celebration’.

“It was the same celebration as the Swansea striker Gomis and I just did it for a laugh really, but it was a great feeling scoring, especially in a derby game.

“The goal was my 13th for Morton but my 12th in the last three seasons. I have two this season and it seems to be under the gaffer that I’m scoring more.

“I got five in his first season here when we won the league and five last season, and I said I’d take five again.  But now that I’ve already got two, hopefully I can try and beat five.”
