LEE Kilday admits he wasn’t quite as frustrated as some of his team-mates when last weekend’s cup clash with Beith Juniors was postponed — because it allowed him a full extra week to recover from a niggling injury.

Kilday was a doubt for last Saturday’s originally scheduled tie against the Ayrshire junior outfit after picking up a muscle strain in training earlier last month.

But after realising that the match would be postponed, the skipper was happy with the rearrangement and another week of full training under his belt to help him recuperate.

He told the Tele: “I’m fine now, I’ve trained all week this week. My hip is feeling fine and my knee is alright, so the week delay kind of helped me. I’ve trained, I’m fine and there’s no problems.

“Last week I was still feeling okay as well, I had trained the Thursday and Friday so I would have been fine to be in the squad then, and I will be now. So we’ll see what happens.”

Kilday was part of the Ton side who previously crashed out of the Scottish Cup in 2014 to Lowland League outfit Spartans back in 2014 and the ex-Hamilton Accies defender is hoping to avoid a repeat of that November afternoon.

He said: “I’ve played a couple of friendlies against some junior teams and I was part of the team when we played Spartans a couple of years ago.

“But that’s the only sort of game I’ve played in, and they were very physical as well.

“Spartans did very well on the day to win 2-1, and we weren’t great. But we’re hoping to do much better this time, get the win on Saturday and get to the next round of the cup.

“Beith will be right up for it obviously. It will be a big occasion for them.

"But we’ll be up for it as well, be professional and do what we need to do.

"They’ll be physical and I’ve heard it’s a very big pitch, but I’ve not seen it. If it is, it’ll be a very difficult game but we’ll do what we can to win.”
