IN recent weeks our local golf clubs have been very busy with charity events and it deserves mention of all their hard work.
Golf is a fantastic social inclusive sport which when organised enables businesses and golfers to join together and generate money for deserved causes.
Whinhill led the way this year when they hosted their yearly event the Jimmy Lang memorial trophy and Port Glasgow followed only last Sunday when the annual Reach for Autism fundraiser took place.
Greenock’s annual tri-am held every September supports three different local charities.
Gourock also hosted the inaugural Andy Adams Golf Day and in a few weeks will again play host to the Ardgowan Hospice golf day on July 17.
What all this shows is that in our small community through golf we do very well and raise thousands of pounds to help and support local charities.
